Part 2: Hands-On Practical Photography Workshop with Melbourne - The Photographer DATE: Sunday, 10th June 2012 9am - 4.30pmCOST: IDR 1,100,000 includes refreshments and lunch.Class size limited to 12 so register for Part 2 early to avoid disappointment.Melbourne’s Advice:Start with Part 1 “Getting The Best From Your Digital Camera” seminar (above). Then enroll in Part 2 Hands-On Practical Photography Workshop and become familiar with your cameras features and controls. This is an action-packed day. You start at 9.00am and will hardly rest until we wrap up at approximately 4.30pm. Who said photography is easy???? (Refreshments are available throughout the day…you won’t starve! Lunch is great too….but you only have 40 minutes!)Melbourne will demonstrate a series of assignments and then you work in small groups to work through each assignment. All assignments are fast and easy to complete and Melbourne will be on hand to answer questions and give guidance. This is the opportunity to shoot and make mistakes. The more mistakes we make, the faster we learn. The purpose of each exercise is not for participants to create a masterpiece…far from it….the object is for each participant to have the experience of shooting different zoom focal lengths, exposures, focus modes, white balances and ISO’s in a typical picture taking environment, with his/her own camera. Suddenly aperture, shutter speeds and depth of field will make sense. Infinitely better (and more fun!), than just reading dozens of books. Your experiences from these assignments will aid you later when you are out and about on your own, shooting landscapes, portraits using window light and fill flash, sharp foreground blurred background. Street photography and market scenes, still life, food, macro, sports and action etc.You are not competing with any one else, the sole purpose is to aid you in exploring the features of your camera while taking everyday photographs.Everything you need to know to gain the confidence to take your photography to the next level. When you have completed this seminar, it’s unlikely you will use “AUTO EVERYTHING” mode ever again and you will be making all the decisions on how you want your images to appear. At the end of the day you will have fast tracked your way through many of your cameras controls and features and will be ready to go out and shoot, shoot, shoot. So what do you think? Do you want to make a remarkable improvement to your photography by investing time with one of south-east Asia’s most experienced photographers?QUESTIONS ARE ENCOURAGED IN ALL SEMINARS……THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SILLY QUESTION!
Improve Composition and Learn To SEEEvening Seminar 6.30 pm to 9.00 pmwith Melbourne - The PhotographerDATE: TBA TIME: 7.00 pm to 9.15 pmCOST: IDR 400,000 includes refreshments.Class size limited to 16 so register early to avoid disappointment. So you’ve got a great camera and you are learning how to use it but your photographs lack imagination? If you have “hit the wall” as far as photographic composition is concerned then you should consider attending Melbourne’s seminar “Improve Composition and Learn to SEE”.Melbourne knows that composition can be confusing especially when you are learning to operate your camera at the same time. Many participants of his photography and Photoshop courses asked him to address this problem and so he designed a seminar to unravel the mysteries of composing a photograph and training yourself to SEE.The two and a half hour seminar will help clarify everything related to arranging the elements of a scene into a harmonious, well balanced and interesting composition. Using over 250 images as reference, Melbourne will deconstruct the bewildering guidelines and “rules” related to composition. You can bring 3 of your images with you for group discussion if you wish.
Group Review and Analysis of Your Photographswith Melbourne – The PhotographerLimited to the first 10 who register. Cost : IDR 550,000 Location : At the house/studio in south Jakarta.Date : 7.30p – 9.45pm(Please note that this session can be held during daytime if you can get a group of 8 minimum to participate).Ansel Adams once said “No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create, or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, in their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit”.Taking his words to heart, we have an evening program that may appeal to you if you have “hit the wall” regarding your approach, composition or camera skills when capturing your photographs. In this unique session, a group of up to 10 participants congregate for an open discussion and review of images that they have brought with them. Each participant can bring up to 15 images to share with the group. The key learning process here is having the benefit of seeing other photographers work and hearing the views of others. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe a wide range of subject matter, styles and approach. By hearing what others think of your photos you may be surprisingly encouraged about where you are in your photographic journey. This should appeal to those new to photography and even experienced photographers will benefit from hearing the views and work of others passionate about this wonderful craft. You will probably get the most value by bringing files containing a variety of subject matter including at least one of your favourite images. You do not have to have carried out any post-processing work (such as Photoshop), but if you have done so, please bring the original un-processed images too.Files may be RAW, JPG or TIFF. If you do shoot RAW please bring either a JPG or TIFF conversion of that file with you. Please edit down to the 15 images you want to show BEFORE coming to the seminar.Bring them on an otherwise empty flash disc at least 4GB.The quantity of images viewed will depend on the number of participants and depth of feedback and comments from Melbourne and the group. If we have a full house and lively conversation then we may only get to see 30% to 50% of each participant’s images. Melbourne selects the images for review.Melbourne has spent many years studying the composition of photographs and art and is fully aware of how frustrating it can be to organize the elements of a composition and control your camera (and subject) so that you can capture your masterpiece during the 1/250th second the shutter remains open after you have pressed the shutter release button on your camera. He will lead the session but encourages open feedback from the group.Don’t delay, reserve your seat NOW.
